The temple also has expansive gardens with beautiful lotus-filled fish ponds. The name Taman Ayun translates to ‘beautiful garden’. This palatial complex is a great place to marvel not only at early Balinese architecture but also to imagine how Balinese royals lived their life behind palace walls back in the days.
  •  ULUN DANU TEMPLE is both a famous picturesque landmark and a significant temple complex on the western side of Beratan Lake in Bedugul, central Bali. The whole Bedugul area is a popular upland weekend and holiday retreat for locals from the more urban areas in the island's south. Ulun Danu Beratan was built in the 17th century to worship the Hindu trinity (Brahma-Vishnu-Shiva) and the lake goddess, Dewi Danu.

The Barong, a benevolent spirit in beast form must protect a kingdom against the vengeful wrath of the widow and witch queen, Rangda. • TIRTA EMPUL is a major temple complex and holy mountain spring in the village of Manukaya in central Bali. The site is the legendary setting of a traditional tale about good versus evil. It's also a national cultural heritage site. The complex, built circa 960 AD, is a silent witness to the old Balinese kingdom, particularly at the time of the Warmadewa Dynasty. Another nearby and prominent site on top of a hill is the presidential palace, Istana Tampaksiring, built during the years of the nation’s first president, Soekarno.
